Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Eight: Gooood Morning

She requires a show almost every single morning. What have I done to my child? I blame sleep deprivation. I like taking naps while she watches and claps. Yes I rhymed, with purpose.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Seven: Computer Savy

No wonder each new generation continues to get more and more technologically capable. We hand our phones to our infants, let them play with remotes, and give them some good pounding time on the keyboard.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Six: Pulls ups

She's starting to get more brave and pull herself up in her crib. So cool. Time to lower the crib.
Also, I don't get laundry folded too often anymore.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Five: Oh Sweet Morning

On the mornings that Jace does not have school and has not been up all night working, he takes Jadyn in the morning so I can sleep. I love it more than I can describe, but I am sad that I miss out on one of the sweetest times of day for this little darling...I'm still sleeping in.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Four: Just another day in paradise

Some days are really quite perfect. We took a stroll on a nice cool day and she kept her hat on THE ENTIRE TIME. It's the simple things in life that allow you to forget days you want to scream.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Three: Yellow

Did you know that yellow is a high emotion color? Meaning, if you are
angry in a yellow room you are most likely going to get more upset than
if you were standing in a different color room. Random fact that really
has nothing to do with how cute Jadyn looks in yellow. Maybe my
emotions are especially high with that color...

We got this bear from, you guessed it, IKEA and she loves it oh so much.

Seriously, I pull it out and it's like she's say "OH MY GOSH GIVE ME
THATBEAR SO I CAN RUB MY SLOBBER ALL OVER HIM!!!"

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-Two: A Break Through

She is the pickiest eater on the planet. So we try new things whenever possible.
While my mom ate her morning yogurt, Jadyn watched her longingly.
So we tried it with the baby spoon: fail.
Then we tried it with the adult spoon.

Success.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty-One: Snug as a Bug

Have I mentioned that Jadyn is EXACTLY like her Dad?
Exhibit A: An obsession with blankies.

Day Two Hundred and Fifty: Serenading

Jace loves playing songs for his little girl, almost as much as she loves to listen.
On a particularly crabby day, he pulled out his guitar.
And she quietly let Daddy sing her a song.
Thank the heavens for music!
Other songs we sing for instances that usually instill a crabby response:
-Changing the Diaper
-Eating the nasty baby food
-Putting clothes on

and my personal favorite:
-Wiping the boogers

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Nine: My Kid Rocks

That's right. She's rolling onto her belly like a champ! She has hated her belly with a screaming passion for a while. But apparently, with some motivation (i.e. lens cap) she will endure the annoyance.

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Eight: Grandpa

Sometimes...ok OFTEN my dad forgets that Jadyn is not his child. He has called her Melissa at least a couple times a day for as long as I can remember. If it were up to him, he would quit his job and play with her all day. He rushes home every night in hopes that she has not gone to sleep. This child really does have such a huge impact on his day. I'm not exactly sure what the arrangement with be when we move out.

Maybe joint custody?

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Seven: Dew Rag

Did I even spell that right? I guess I better learn, cuz my kid has a serious gangsta stare.

Throw a pair of tights on her head and you can't tell her from Snoop Dog!

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Six: Hey kid, remember me?

Sometimes I think she doesn't care that I
am trying to get her attention.
She just keeps staring at her box of toys.

Oh Hello! There's your face.

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Five: Scientist

Isn't is amazing that everything they pick up seems so new?
It makes me wonder if I should be better about inspecting things.
If I took as much time as Jadyn did inspecting an old watch
...well I'd know a whole lot more about that old watch!

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Four: Beautiful Messes

After putting Jadyn down for the night, Jace and I went through the house to clean all the messes from the day. They're inevitable with a child. And you can huff and puff about them (as I often do*cough* ), or you can look at them as a sweet little reminder of how much fun you had today.
The books we read

The toys we played with

The clothes we went through

The food we ate

And didn't eat

And the music we mad together on the piano.

Sure...it was a messy day, but I have a whole lot
of proof that today was a very fun day. I enjoyed
every single mess we made together.

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Three: Soft Anger

Jadyn would not go to sleep.
Surprisingly enough,  Jace was able to sleep quite peacefully.

I just paced with my screaming child.
I paced and I paced.
I looked at him, breathing deep, snuggled in our comfy covers.

I paced, and I huffed, and I....almost lost my cool.

I wanted to throw something at his peaceful little face!

I resorted to this...

It could have been a lot worse. But a teddy bear pelt certainly got the message across.
It did take a few good pelts though.
A word to the wise: don't mess with me!

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-Two: Now there's a story

I good while back, we (Jadyn) were invited to a 1-year old birthday party. We decided upon an inflatable penguin for his present. Ever since then, Jace and I have eyed that penguin longingly every time we go through the toy section at Wal Mart. We thought Jadyn would love it so. One day, we gave in...sorta. We couldn't afford the actual penguin so we got the next best thing!
...a zebra with a freaky face. She looks happy-ish. Ok, my kid got gipped.

Day Two Hundred and Fourty-One: Really?

I'm so far behind that we have not even gotten to the cute velvet dress? I have ALOT of blogging to do in the next 4 days. Why do you ask? Because Jadyn  is turning 1. Yup! Oy.

Day Two Hundred and Thirty-Six to Fourty: Repetition

I believe there are things you notice in an everyday blog about your child, that maybe you wouldn't otherwise notice. For example, I noticed that for the past several days I took a picture of Jadyn in her high chair. It just so happens that this is a repetitive activity. Maybe as a mother, this constant repetition (nap, change, feed, change, feed, nap, blah blah blah) can seem a bit drumming on the one hand. On the other hand, it's a great comfort to me to know what happens next.

I am a first time mother still trying to figure out what works. Every babying book out there will tell you that baby loves routines. Well, I might add that mother does too. I like to know that I am at least going through the motions. Sometimes, that's all you have energy for. But hey....they're still alive!

Happy 8 months baby girl.

I don't know what tomorrow holds for us, but I do know
that I'll be seeing you at the high chair for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day Two Hundred and Thirty-Five: Running out of titles

I can't really think of a title for this one. It was just a typical day. Breakfast, lunch and throwing a blue blanket up in attempting to take some fancy pictures. The usual funny sounds to get her to smile, then a surrender to her favorite pouty look. This round is a little too obvious that it is a homemade shoot for my taste. But the girl's got some fabulous attitude.
